Experimental psychology considers psychology as a natural science and therefore tests hypotheses about the underlying processes of human and animal behavior through experimental studies conducted in research laboratories in psychology research. Experimental psychology has sub-specialties/interests/fields of study that examine a wide range of behavioral processes. Among these areas of interest; the psychology of learning, cognitive psychology, physiological psychology, and cognitive neuroscience that uses brain imaging measures to examine changes in the brain during cognitive processes are the ones that come first to mind.
