Clinical Psychology

Clinical psychologists make psychological evaluations of individuals with mental, behavioral and emotional disorders in the context of the problem they are experiencing and take responsibility in the psychological treatment processes applied to these people. The problems that clinical psychologists deal with can range from short-term developmental crises (such as rebellion in adolescence and decline in self-worth in the middle age) to the treatment of more severe problems such as phobia, depression or schizophrenia. Many clinical psychologists also conduct scientific research. Research topics include determining factors that play a role in the effectiveness of psychological treatments, factors associated with successful aging or various behavioral disorders, understanding the development of phobias, or identifying causes of abnormal behavior. In addition, clinical psychologists also apply and interpret psychological tests and measure to evaluate individuals and implement individual and group therapies.
